Last week the Paul Mckenna Band (minus Ruairidh unfortunately) were playing in Mulligans Irish bar in Amsterdam. This was a second trip for Ewan, Paul and David, but a first for myself. Old and new friends were met and we also came across some great musicians including an outstanding guitar player called Dominic Crosbie.
Of course we couldn’t keep ourselves to Mulligans alone and so also took in some of Amsterdams nightlife. Newcastle man Phil Rook, who now lives in Amsterdam, took us out every night without fail to some good pubs and clubs. During this time the rest of the guys were amazed at my dancing skills, especialy my robot! Phil is hopefully coming over to Scotland for the Moniaive folk festival next week.
At the gig on Friday night Ewan’s sister Mhairi joined us for a few sets of tunes and we all just managed to fit on the stage.
The trip wouldn’t have been complete without the help of our good friend Mark MacInaw. He proved to be our tour guide, comedian and even played a few songs on the Saturday night.
Everyone had a great trip and we would be very happy to go back any time.
