From the snow covered mountains of Colorado to the palm trees and beaches of Florida, we really did cover a lot of ground on our most recent trip to America.
We started off in Denver, Colorado where we played at The Soiled Dove Underground. This was a fantastic venue with a great audience and some wonderful food! The only thing we would complain about would be the lack of moisture and oxygen in the air. We found out after the gig that Denver is one mile above sea level! From Denver we travelled through to Fairfield, Iowa. Not only the home of the wonderful Cafe Paradiso, but also the Maharishi University of Management. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try out some transcendental meditation.
Next stop was The Focal Point in Maplewood, Missouri. Just a quick stop at this wonderful little theatre before a very early rise and a long drive to our next gig at The Happy Days Visitor Centre in Ohio. This was a very impressive venue as the building was made from logs and was set out in the woods. The venue itself was run by the park rangers.
Our next drive was to Philadelphia where we stayed for a few days. The most important part of this was that we got a chance to run up the Rocky steps at The Philadelphia Museum of art! From here we travelled to our last couple of gigs in Florida. We had a wonderful greeting in St Petersburg in the form of a party! After an early morning radio interview and another brilliant gig, we headed to our final show in Jacksonville at the European Street Cafe.
Throughout the tour we kept a video diary. Please check it out through The Paul McKenna Band YouTube Channel! You can also keep up to date with the band by signing up to our mailing list. On signing up you will recieve a free track! We have a busy summer ahead of us with loads of great festivals and gigs. Check our tour page, facebook and twitter to see if we’re playing near you!
