Germany

Well, this was definitely our wettest trip to Germany. When stepping on to our plane in Manchester we all thought we were waving goodbye to the wellies and rain coats, but oh no.

We started off our five date tour at the Freilichbühne in Mülheim an der Ruhr. Even though this was an outdoor venue and the weather wasn’t great, we still had a really good time. It was amazing to have so many people come back out to see us again at this wonderful venue. The following night we played in a place that we have drank in more than played. The nearest thing we have to a local pub in Germany, Zur Kastanie.

On the Friday night we were back in Mülheim at Bannisters. It was great to see Birgit and Peter Bannister again. Peter made us an amazing meal. We look forward to heading back in October to play (and eat) for a charity event there. The next day we had a long drive down to Lauffen am Neckar to play at the Lauffen Irish Festival. It was in Lauffen that we finaly found the sun! The festival was held in the courtyard of a beautiful castle in the middle of a river. Also playing at the festival was Malinky. Mike once again joined the band for there first gig together in 15 months.

Our final gig was at the Sommer Sound concert series in Gelsenkirchen. It did rain for some of the show, but the audience were well prepared!

Guntmar Feuerstein, who runs the event, joined us on mandolin for a couple of songs. Thanks to Holger Drewicke for the picture.

We’re heading back out to Germany again in October, keep an eye on our tour dates page to see where we’ll be playing.

We have a couple of festivals back home over the next couple of weeks, before heading out to Canada in August. Keep checking the website to keep up to date with what we’re doing and where we’re doing it!!!
