The band played their last gig of the year on Thursday at the famous Star Folk Club in Glasgow. It was great to end the year with a home gig.
This has undoubtedly been the bands busiest year. We have all had an amazing time playing to audiences throughout the world including Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, USA, Canada and of course Scotland and England.
Highlights include our summer tour in Canada where we played at Edmonton Folk Music Festival. At the festival we got the chance to share the stage with great acts such as Dougie MacClean, Emily Smith & Jamie McLennan, La Bottine Souriante and many others. We also traveled down the west coast of America for the first time. This was a wonderful experience. On tour we meet up with the guys from Comas, playing a double bill concert in San Rafael, California which was great fun! The amazing Seán Earnest also joined us on bouzouki for a couple of days. Other highlights include our time in Germany, where we always love to play. It’s fantastic to go back and see so many familiar faces coming out to see us again and again.
In September we toured throughout Denmark with a quick stop over in Sweden. At the beginning of the tour our agent and good friend, Eugene Graham passed away. Eugene was an amazing agent and was always a pleasure to work with. Above all Eugene was a great man and one we’ll never forget.
As many of you will know the band has been nominated for Folk Band of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. Also up for nomination is Paul McKenna for Scots Singer of the Year and Mike Vass for Composer of the Year. We would like to thank everyone for there continued support of the band. The winner of each category will be announced on Saturday at the award ceremonies. We’ll let you know how we get on.
Keep an eye on our website to see if we’ll be playing near you over the next year. We hope to see you along the road at some point!
